Eastern Star Charity Foundation
The Eastern Star Charity Foundation was formed in 1965. Although it is a part of the Grand Chapter of Connecticut, it is run separately with its own by-laws, board of directors, and is exempt under the tax code of the State of Connecticut. By law, the foundation must donate a minimum of 85% of the income to another viable charity. This was chosen to be the Masonic Charity Foundation which would benefit the members of the Order of the Eastern Star.
The mission of the Eastern Star Charity Foundation of Connecticut, Inc., is to provide charity, benevolence and loving kindness by enhancing the quality of life for all members of the Order of the Eastern Star and others in need.
The Board of Directors meet six times a year on the first Saturday of February, April, June, August, October and December. Although we do meet occasionally at Masonicare in Wallingford, we mostly have been meeting via zoom since so many of the board live in various parts of the state and also there may be times of inclement weather with which to travel in.
The members of the board are willing to visit any chapter to discuss information about the foundation and answer any questions that the membership might have. We would be glad to share with you other information about the foundation at your chapter meeting.
